Every time I take my six year old to our neighborhood park to enjoy the children’s playscape I am amazed how strong physically she has become lately. She climbs and jumps and slides and hangs like its second nature. And the amazing part of all this is that when she exercises she does it willingly not really aware that as adults we exercise to stay in shape, children just happen to exercise while they play. I can envision a sea of Balance Pods laid out where children step from one to the other.
Hands straight out to their sides, navigating a random course of their choosing, and doing all this voluntarily without any adult telling them it’s good for strong bones.
I’d bet if Balance Pods where accessible to adults they in turn would find the fun and function of such play. I mean what would be the worst-case scenario? If you lost your balance there isn’t a fear of falling and getting hurt since these pods are not too far off the ground. Would adults look at them as a game or would they see them just as another balance fitness tool to add to their workouts?
Adults who practice balance exercises know the benefits. Children just happen to think its fun.
